OBJECTIVES:
Explain the definition of Bipolar Disorder (formal and informal) and its various manifestations, as outlined in DSM-5-TR.
Describe the differential diagnosis and assessment of adult bipolar disorder and how misdiagnoses are prevalent.
Discuss Bipolar spectrum disorders in children and adolescents and the dangers of incorrect diagnoses.
Plan psychotherapy and psychoeducational treatment techniques including cognitive therapy and family therapy.
Demonstrate the management of special problems in treatment, such as compliance, suicidality, and self-help alternatives.
