OBJECTIVES:
Describe current patterns of AI use across the general population, including differences across the lifespan.
Examine how consumers are using AI tools for mental health support, including an evaluation of the effects of AI on mental health outcomes.
Describe current patterns of AI use in mental health practice and research, including comparison of AI versus clinician outcomes.
Apply ethical frameworks to the use of AI in mental health practice and research to determine best practices.

Describe current patterns of AI use across the general population, including differences in adoption, engagement, and risk across age groups and demographics.
Evaluate the effects of AI use on mental health outcomes in the general population, including potential benefits and areas of significant concern, such as non-consensual intimate imagery, deepfakes, and AI-facilitated harm.
Examine how consumers are currently using AI tools for mental health support and distinguish between additive use as a supplement to professional care versus replacement use.

Identify current applications of AI in mental health practice and research, including diagnostic support, treatment planning, predictive analytics, and documentation.
Critically evaluate the evidence comparing AI-assisted mental health interventions to traditional clinician-delivered care, including considerations of efficacy, accessibility, and limitations.
Apply ethical and legal frameworks to the use of AI in mental health practice and research, including considerations of informed consent, data privacy, bias, and professional accountability.
