OBJECTIVES:
Identify the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and differentiate it from other mood disorders that may have seasonal patterns.
Examine the etiological mechanisms underlying SAD, including the roles of relevant neurotransmitters and neurohormones.
Evaluate and apply evidence-based treatments for SAD, including light therapy, pharmacotherapy, and psychotherapy.
Apply concepts practically using relevant case studies, including those involving Summer-specific SAD.

Introduction and overview of Seasonal Affective Disorder, including prevalence rates and DSM-5 diagnostic criteria
Differential diagnosis of SAD from Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and other conditions with seasonal features
Risk factors and etiological mechanisms for SAD, including circadian rhythm disruption, serotonin dysregulation, and melatonin overproduction as etiological mechanisms

Review of evidence-based treatments, including light therapy and pharmacotherapy
Examination of evidence-based psychotherapy approaches for SAD, including CBT-SAD, with a focus on outcome data
